GAMING in BC includes a range of lotteries, 18 casinos, 29 commercial bingo halls, 4 race tracks and 19 teletheatres. The BC Lottery Corp., created in 1985, is the CROWN CORP. which manages commercial gaming (except horse racing and teletheatres) under the authority of the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch of the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Total revenues in 2004–05 were $2 billion, of which the province retained $811 million, about half of which went into general revenues.
