GIBBS, Rufus, fishing lure maker (b 1882, Vancouver; d 11 Dec 1968, Vancouver). He pioneered BC sport FISHING and the making of metal lures for western waters. Many of his designs are still in use decades after his death. Gibbs stamped his first spoons in 1908 at his Gibbs Tool and Stamping Works in VANCOUVER.
