GOOD HOPE LAKE, pop 50, 628 km north of GITWANGAK (Kitwanga) on the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy (Hwy 37), is a community of KASKA people closely related to those living at LOWER POST at the confluence of the DEASE and LIARD rivers 90 km northeast. They originally moved to the area to be close to a mission and HBC trading post established nearby on McDame Crk, which was one of the major strikes during the Cassiar GOLD RUSH.
