GUICHON FAMILY are a pioneer family of NICOLA R valley ranchers. Joseph Guichon (1848–1921) arrived in BC in 1864 and worked as a packer before settling with his brothers in the Nicola Valley, where they acquired several ranches. In 1918 Joseph's children assumed management, operating as a partnership; in 1933 the holdings—121.5 sq km of land, 4,000 head of cattle and 500 horses—were incorporated as the Guichon Ranch Ltd.
