GUNANOOT, Simon, Gitksan trapper, storekeeper (b circa 1874, Gitanmaax; d Oct 1933, near Stewart). He is the most famous fugitive in BC history. The son of a GITKSAN chief, he was accused of the murder of 2 men, Alex McIntosh and Max Leclair, near HAZELTON in June 1906.
