GUTTERIDGE, Helena Rose, political activist (b 8 Apr 1879, London, England; d 3 Oct 1960, Vancouver). She left home at age 13 and worked to put herself through school. She was already a suffragette when she immigrated to VANCOUVER in 1911 and became involved in the local movement for WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE, forming the BC Woman's Suffrage League soon after her arrival.
