HAGAN, Michael, pioneer newspaper publisher, farmer (b 1831; d 2 Nov 1896, Kelowna). He was already an experienced NEWSPAPER publisher of the Thunder Bay Sentinel when he moved to BC in 1880. Believing that EMORY CITY in the FRASER Canyon would become an important railway centre, he located there and began publishing the Inland Sentinel on a French hand press that was brought to BC in 1853.
