HAGENSBORG, pop 279, in the Bella Coola Valley about 20 km east of BELLA COOLA, was established in 1894 by a group of NORWEGIAN colonists. They had settled first in Minnesota but followed their pastor, Rev Christian Saugstad, to the new site and settled well up the valley, where the government granted them land.
