HANSEN, Rick, a.k.a. the Man in Motion (b 26 Aug 1957, Port Alberni). He became a paraplegic at age 15 when he was involved as a passenger in a motor vehicle crash near his hometown of WILLIAMS LAKE. He became a competitor in wheelchair sports, winning 19 international marathons, including 3 world championships, and competing for Canada in an exhibition race at the 1984 Olympics. On 21 Mar 1985 he launched his Man in Motion World Tour, and pushed his wheelchair around the globe to raise money...
