HARMAC PACIFIC INC, a Vancouver-based pulp producer, was spun off from MacMILLAN BLOEDEL in 1994 to operate a pulp mill in NANAIMO. The mill was built in 1950 by the H.R. MacMillan Export Co, forerunner of Macblo. By 1997 it had revenues of $226.4 million. In 1998 Pope & Talbot Inc of Portland bought a controlling interest in the company.
