HARRIS, Christie Irwin, writer (b 21 Nov 1907, Newark, NJ; d Jan 2002, Vancouver). Raised on a BC homestead, she became a schoolteacher and turned to writing after her marriage in 1932. She wrote hundreds of radio scripts but did not begin publishing books for young readers—for which she is best known—until she was 50. Despite her late start, she wrote 20 children's books, most notably Raven's Cry (1966), Mouse Woman and the Vanished Princesses (1976) and The Trouble with Princesses (1980)....
