HOFFAR, Henry, boatbuilder (b 1888, Vancouver; d 1976, Vancouver). He built more than 2,000 vessels at his VANCOUVER yard, from simple fishing boats to elegant yachts. At age 13 he quit school to apprentice at a sash and door factory, and he built his first boat in the family basement when he was 17.
