Homathko River


HOMATHKO RIVER, 137 km, flows out of the CHILCOTIN via Tatlayoko Lk south through the COAST MTS to empty into the Pacific Ocean at the head of BUTE INLET. It was chosen in the 1860s by Alfred WADDINGTON to be the route for his wagon road to the Interior (see CHILCOTIN WAR), and railway surveyors touted it as a possible terminus for the transcontinental rail line (see CPR).
