IMREDY, Elek, sculptor (b 13 Apr 1912, Budapest; d 22 Oct 1994, Vancouver). He immigrated to VANCOUVER in 1957 following the 1956 uprising in his native Hungary. Besides his church sculpture in BC and across Canada, he is known for his likenesses of public figures, including Matthew Baillie BEGBIE in NEW WESTMINSTER, Charles Melville Hayes at PRINCE RUPERT's city hall, a bust of archivist J.S.
