ISLE PIERRE, 35 km west of PRINCE GEORGE on the NECHAKO R and the CNR, was first settled by homesteaders from Saskatchewan in the 1920s. CANADIAN FOREST PRODUCTS operates a SAWMILL here. The community is named for a rocky island in the river's rapids.
