JOLY DE LOTBINIÈRE, Henri-Gustave, lawyer and politician, lt gov 1900–06 (b 5 Dec 1829, Epernay, France; d 15 Nov 1908, Quebec City). Raised in Lower Canada and educated in Paris, he practised law in Quebec and managed his family's seigneury. A lifelong Liberal, he sat in the Canadian Assembly from 1861 to 1867, the Quebec legislature from 1867 to 1885, and the House of Commons from 1867 to 1874.
