JURA, 11 km northeast of PRINCETON, was a small railway and LOGGING settlement on a section of the KETTLE VALLEY RWY completed in 1915. The steep grade eased here and "helper" engines could be turned. It was named after the mountain range on the French–Swiss border. By the 1990s, only a few deserted barns and red railway sheds remained.
