KITSUMKALUM
()
, pop 265 (2001), is a TSIMSHIAN village at the confluence of the Kitsumkalum and SKEENA rivers just west of TERRACE. It was the site of a bitter disagreement with the GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY over a right-of-way through an aboriginal graveyard. A neighbouring non-aboriginal settlement called Eby's Landing, with its early hotel and store, became part of Terrace. The name means "people of the plateau."
