Kiyooka, Roy Kenzie

KIYOOKA, Roy Kenzie, artist, poet (b 18 Jan 1926, Moose Jaw, SK; d 8 Jan 1994, Vancouver). He grew up in Calgary and attended art school there, in Mexico and at the highly regarded workshop at Emma Lake, SK. He came to VANCOUVER in 1960 to teach at the Vancouver School of Art (see EMILY CARR INSTITUTE OF ART & DESIGN) and from 1973 to his retirement in 1991 he was a member of the fine arts department at UBC.
