LAKE ERROCK, pop 368, a rich AGRICULTURAL district 7 km northwest of CHILLIWACK on the north side of the FRASER R, was originally known as Squakum Lake after a type of SALMON. A.W. Ross, who had a major orchard (see TREE FRUITS) and fruit canning operation here in the 1890s, came up with Loch Errock (derived from Loch Ericht in Scotland) as a name for the post office, and Loch later became Lake.
