LAU, Evelyn, writer (b 2 July 1971, Vancouver). At age 14 she left her parents' home and spent 2 years on the streets in VANCOUVER. She wrote about her experiences with drugs and prostitution in her first book, Runaway: Diary of a Street Kid (1989), later made into a television movie. Her first volume of poetry, You Are Not Who You Claim, appeared in 1990 and won the Milton ACORN People's Poet Award. It was followed in 1992 by Oedipal Dreams, for which she was nominated for a GOV GEN'S LITERARY...
