LAWN HILL, on the east coast of Graham Island, 18 km north of SKIDEGATE in the QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS, was an AGRICULTURAL district that developed before WWI. Robert Scharfee and his wife operated a store and post office; the East Coast Farmers' Institute established an experimental farm, and there was a hotel. Most residents had moved away by the 1930s. The origin of the name is uncertain, though the 130-m hill itself was originally known as Long or Lone Hill.
