LIONS are twin peaks in the North Shore mountains overlooking BURRARD INLET and downtown VANCOUVER. Symbolic guardians of the entrance to Vancouver's harbour, known as the Lions' Gate, the Lions were known as Chee-Chee ("Twins") to the SQUAMISH people. The present name was suggested in about 1890.
