MacLAREN, Donald Roderick, aviator (b 28 May 1893, Ottawa; d 4 July 1988, Burnaby). He was raised in the PEACE R district, where his parents ran a trading post. In 1917 he joined the Royal Flying Corps and, in just 8 months of action at the front, shot down 48 enemy planes and 6 observation balloons, an incredible record that won him several medals.
