McILWRAITH, Thomas Forsyth, anthropologist (b 9 Apr 1899, Hamilton, ON; d 29 Mar 1964, Toronto). A student of the NUXALK (Bella Coola) people, he first came to the Pacific coast in 1922 as a young researcher sent by the Victoria Memorial Museum (now the Canadian Museum of Civilization).
