McLeod Lake


McLEOD LAKE, pop 135, on the HART HWY 140 km north of PRINCE GEORGE, is the site of the first European settlement west of the ROCKY MTS and the longest continually occupied European settlement in BC. In 1805 Simon FRASER established a trading post here in the territory of the SEKANI, leaving James MacDougall in charge for the winter.
