McLOUGHLIN, John, physician, fur trader (b 19 Oct 1784 near Rivière du Loup, QC; d 3 Sept 1857, Oregon City). He was licensed to practise medicine but in 1803 he joined the NORTH WEST CO as an apprentice FUR TRADER. Serving mainly at Fort William, he became a partner in the company in 1814.
