MELDRUM CREEK is a ranching community (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) on the west side of the FRASER R, just north of the Chilcotin Hwy (see ROADS AND HWYS) 14 km west of WILLIAMS LAKE. The area was pioneered by Thomas Meldrum (1828–89) who came from Ontario in the mid-19th century; Meldrums have lived here ever since.
