Mica Dam


MICA DAM, near the Big Bend in the COLUMBIA R 135 km north of REVELSTOKE, was the last of the HYDROELECTRIC power dams built by BC HYDRO under the terms of the COLUMBIA R TREATY. The dam began storing water in 1973 and flooded the river valley to create KINBASKET RESERVOIR; the plant began generating electricity in 1976.
