Moody, Sewell Prescott


MOODY, Sewell Prescott, pioneer lumberman (b circa 1835, Hartland, ME; d 4 Nov 1875, at sea near Victoria). He came to BC as a young man and began working in a local SAWMILL before opening a butcher shop in NEW WESTMINSTER. He built the first significant sawmill there, and in 1865 bought Pioneer Mills on the north shore of BURRARD INLET.
