Mountaineering

MOUNTAINEERING began in BC when the completion of the CPR in 1885 made the mountains of the BC Interior accessible to mountaineers from around the world. Soon British and American climbers, often led by Austrian or SWISS GUIDES, were reaching the summits of the ROCKY and COLUMBIA MTS.
