MUD RIVER, 25 km southwest of PRINCE GEORGE, is a LOGGING and ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) settlement on the Chilako R first settled in the early 1910s. It had a rural school, and a post office operated from 1922 to 1949. The Arbour family moved its SAWMILL here from McBRIDE in the early 1950s.
