NELSON FORKS, 115 km northwest of FORT NELSON at the confluence of the LIARD and Fort Nelson rivers in BC's remote northeast corner, was the site of a DENE-THAH (Slavey) First Nation village and an HBC trading post. It was abandoned in the early 1950s. A US Army weather station operated here during WWII.
