NEWCOMBE, Charles Frederic, psychiatrist, naturalist, field ethnologist (b 1851, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Eng; d 1924, Victoria). Trained as a medical doctor in Scotland, he immigrated to Oregon in 1884, then moved his family north to VICTORIA in 1889 and became BC's first psychiatrist.
