Newman, Murray Arthur


NEWMAN, Murray Arthur, fish scientist (b 6 Mar 1924, Chicago; d 18 Mar 2016, Burnaby). He served with the US Navy during WWII and after studying at the Univ of Chicago and the Univ of California at Berkeley, he came to VANCOUVER in 1953 for doctoral studies at UBC. In 1955 he was hired as the first curator of the VANCOUVER AQUARIUM, which opened in STANLEY PARK the following year.
