NICHOL, Walter Cameron, journalist, lt gov 1920–26 (b 15 Oct 1866, Goderich, ON; d 19 Dec 1928, Victoria). He began a successful career in journalism at the Hamilton Spectator newspaper, then moved in 1887 to Toronto, where he launched the original Saturday Night magazine. It failed after one issue and he returned to newspaper work in Hamilton and London. In 1897 he and his new wife moved west, to the KOOTENAY briefly, then to VICTORIA, where he became editor of the weekly PROVINCE newspaper....
