NICOL, Eric P., humorist (b 28 Dec 1919, Kingston, ON; d 2 Feb 2011, Vancouver). Raised in VANCOUVER, he served in the RCAF during WWII, after which he studied French at UBC and the Sorbonne. He began his career writing humour for the BBC in London, then returned to Vancouver and began writing a column in the PROVINCE newspaper in 1951. This column, along with a steady outpouring of radio and stage plays, television scripts and humorous histories, established him as BC's most popular humorist....
