O'HARA, LAKE, nestles in an amphitheatre of towering peaks in the ROCKY MTS, just west of the Continental Divide in YOHO NATIONAL PARK. Named for Lt Col Robert O'Hara, an early visitor, it is the centre of a network of TRAILS leading to high mountain passes, icefields and alpine meadows. It has been popular with hikers from around the world since the beginning of the century. Lake O'Hara Lodge, built by the CPR in 1926, is still in operation.
