Onderdonk, Andrew


ONDERDONK, Andrew, railway builder (b 30 Aug 1848, New York City; d 22 June 1905, Oscawana, NY). He supervised construction of 540 km of CPR mainline in BC. As a young engineer he worked for the Central Railroad of New Jersey and on improvements to San Francisco harbour. In 1879 he came to BC under contract to the federal government to supervise construction of the section of the transcontinental railway running from PORT MOODY to Kamloops Lk.
