ONLEY, Norman Antony "Toni," artist (b 20 Nov 1928, Douglas, Isle of Man; d 29 Feb 2004, near Maple Ridge). He learned to paint in his native Isle of Man before coming to Canada in 1948. After working in Ontario he moved to PENTICTON in 1955. During his studies in Mexico in 1957–60 he was influenced by abstract expressionism, then rediscovered his landscape roots in England, where he studied the British watercolourists.
