OPPENHEIMER, David, businessman, politician (b 1 Jan 1834, Bleiskastel, Germany; d 31 Dec 1897, Vancouver). He moved to the US with his family in 1848; in 1860, after several years in California, he came to BC to work in his brother Charles's supply business, providing goods to the CARIBOO goldfields (see GOLD RUSH, CARIBOO).
