ORDER OF BRITISH COLUMBIA was established on 21 Apr 1989 to honour people "who have served with the greatest distinction and excelled in any field of endeavour benefiting the people of the Province of BC." Nominees suggested by the public are considered by a 7-person advisory council chaired by the provincial chief justice, and final appointments are made by the LT GOV. The insignia of the order is a medal in the shape of a DOGWOOD with a crowned shield of arms. A ceremony is held once per year...
