Organized Crime Agency of BC

ORGANIZED CRIME AGENCY OF BC was created in 1999, with an annual budget of $15 million, to counter organized crime throughout the province. It replaced the 25-year-old Coordinated Law Enforcement Unit that was disbanded the previous year after a report cast doubt on its effectiveness. The first head of the new agency was Beverley Ann Busson, a senior RCMP officer and BC's first female police chief. See also POLICING.
