Pacific Salmon Treaty


PACIFIC SALMON TREATY (PST) is an agreement between the US and Canada to co-operate in the sharing, conservation, management, research and enhancement of Pacific SALMON stocks of mutual concern. After many years of negotiation, the PST was ratified in Mar 1985.

Pacific salmon migrate long distances, spending several years at sea. In the course of their migratory cycle, some stocks of fish hatched in US waters enter the fishery zones of Canada, and some Canadian-origin fish enter the fishery...
