Palliser

PALLISER, a CPR SAWMILLING settlement 17 km east of GOLDEN, provided much of the timber for building the railway line through the ROCKY MTS. In operation from 1884 to 1908, it was named for Capt John Palliser, who led the Palliser Expedition (1857–1859) that searched for passes through the Rockies.
