Pearse, Peter Hector

PEARSE, Peter Hector, economist (b 26 Nov 1932, Vernon). After attending UBC and Edinburgh Univ, he returned to UBC as professor of economics and later professor of FORESTRY. An expert in natural resources management, he conducted royal commissions on the BC FOREST INDUSTRY in 1975–76 and Canada's Pacific fisheries in 1981–82 (see also FISHERIES POLICY), and also chaired inquiries into water policy and freshwater fisheries.
