Peetz, Boris

PEETZ, Boris, fishing tackle maker (b 1883, Moscow, Russia; d 12 Jan 1954, Victoria). He arrived in Canada in 1910 and worked briefly as a silversmith for the CPR in Montreal before travelling west to VICTORIA in 1911. He established a jewellery business, but in his leisure time he loved to fish and by the 1920s he was designing and making his own fishing reels. He established the BC Peetz Manufacturing Co, maker of beautiful mahogany and brass reels that were the pride of west coast sport...
