PENTLAND, Barbara Lally, composer (b 2 Jan 1912, Winnipeg, MB; d 5 Feb 2000, Vancouver). After studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York (1936–39) and with Aaron Copland at the Berkshire Music Center in Massachusetts, she joined the Toronto Conservatory of Music and taught there from 1943 to 1949.
