Pérez, Juan


PÉREZ, Juan, Spanish naval officer (b circa 1725, Majorca, Spain; d 2 Nov 1775, at sea off California). He was engaged in trade on the Manila galleon route between Mexico and the Philippines and on supply ships to California before being ordered to sail north in the frigate Santiago to investigate Russian incursions onto the Northwest Coast.
