Photo Radar


PHOTO RADAR was introduced in BC in 1996 as an attempt to reduce accidents related to traffic speed. Traffic-accident related costs were exceeding $2 billion, with the loss of close to 500 lives and 48,000 injuries annually. BC's photo radar was the only provincial system in Canada, though Calgary and Edmonton have city-run programs and photo radar is used in 75 countries worldwide.
